The site is situated within 5 blocks from two of the most vibrant centers in Queens. The building was one of the factories used by Conrad Poppenhusen in the 1800s to manufacture rubber products. It was later utilized by the IB Kleinert’s Rubber Co., before becoming the Gelmart building. It was eventually occupied by a private storage facility, but has been vacant for several years.
The renovation converted a old warehouse building into a 114-room hotel, with a supermarket, restaurants, a food court, shops and 124 parking spots. Hanart design& engineered and furnished approximate 24,060 SF unitized window wall system.
